To make the porridge you will need the following:

– Oat flakes

– Water

– Salt or sugar

– Milk (if desired)

– Butter, berries or jam for serving


Use 300 ml or 10 oz of water per serving.
Add the salt or sugar to taste and bring to the boil.
Replace half or all of the water with milk, if desired.


Add 100 g or 7 tbsp of the oat flakes to one portion of the boiling liquid.


Boil the porridge for 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat and allow the porridge to sit, lid on, for several minutes.


Spoon the porridge into a bowl and serve with a little butter. Add jam or berries, if desired.
